Spring 2016: Volume 72, Number 1
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
Every year, as a part of their commitment to mental health, NAMI hosts the NAMI WA Walk. This year’s walk will be held on June 4th at Kirkland’s Marina Park. The WSPA and our affiliated nonprofit, Washington State Psychological Foundation (WSPF), have supported the NAMI walk for many years. This as a wonderful annual opportunity to get active and support mental health and wellness across our state. This year, WSPA and the WSPF will be walking together as the team, “Psychologists Walking for NAMI,” with a fundraising goal of $2,500. All funds raised will directly support the mission-driven work of NAMI organizations to host educational programs, facilitate support groups, provide mental health trainings, advocate for access to services, and offer a compassionate place to turn for the millions of Americans living with mental illness.
We would love your support and participation. Please join us in Kirkland for the walk (dogs on leashes are welcome), or register for our team and participate as a virtual walker. Donations and registrations are available here. The NAMI WA Walk will take place Saturday, June 4th at Marina Park in Kirkland, WA – located at 25 Lakeshore Plaza Dr., Kirkland, WA 98033 (Directions). Walkers will gather at the Psychologists Walking for NAMI sponsorship table at 8:30 AM. We will begin the 5k walk about 9:00 AM. We hope to see you there!
