I’m happy to report that the 2017 convention was a big success. We had a 45% increase in attendees over the 3 days from the 2015 convention, an increase of 56 attendees. And the better news is that we expect to have a small net gain this year versus the losses incurred from past conventions. (A convention was not held in 2016, instead we held single day workshops in the spring and fall).

Celebrating WSPA’s 70th Anniversary, the 2017 convention theme “Can We Talk? Connection, Compassion, Communication” was used by Russell Kolts, Ph.D., for his keynote presentation titled “Compassionate Connection: Creating a Context for Healing.”

This year’s convention also included a Welcome Breakfast for Newly Licensed/Early Career Psychologists, a student Poster Session, Awards Banquet, and Stakeholder’s Meeting. Thanks to current board president Sonia Venkatraman, Ph.D. and 2015 board president Chris McCurry, Ph.D., for developing an outstanding line up of speakers and topics. It was definitely a very full three days of convention.

Thank you to our convention sponsors, The Trust Insurance and TherapyNotes, and our exhibitors for helping to cover some of our convention costs.

Here’s what attendees have been saying!

-Just a note to thank you folks for a conference well done.  It was a delight to attend this year.  Thanks for all you do.

-I found the conference very worthwhile and am very happy I attended.

– Thanks for a great convention. From personal experience I know how much energy a convention takes. And yours was well done – excellent attention to details. Thank you for this time and effort.
