WSPA is pleased to congratulate Jessica Henderson Daniel, Ph.D. on her nomination as the President-Elect of APA for 2018. Dr. Daniel will be the first African American woman president in the Association’s history. She has a long track record of service to APA, including as President of Division 35 (Society for the Psychology of Women), a member of the Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice (the Practice Directorate Board), the Council of Representatives (chairing both the Women’s Caucus and the Public Interest Caucus), and the APA Finance Committee. Additionally, she has played a prominent role in mentoring the next generation of psychologists of color, having secured grants to promote early career women of color who are interested in pursuing research on adolescents. She has received numerous awards recognizing her leadership and mentoring of early career minority psychologists. Dr. Daniel is currently the director of training in psychology at Children’s Hospital, Boston. She also serves as an adjunct associate professor in the Clinical Psychology Program at Boston University.
