One of the most visible and forward thinking changes last year’s board made was to switch from paid WSPA staff to working with an association management agency. Thinking Cap Communications & Design is a marketing and communications company that has been managing Eastern Washington’s LGBT Business Chamber by providing operations, branding, communications and membership support since 1998. Thinking Cap staff should be thought of as WSPA’s very own, and we are looking forward to working with members, state politicians, and other mental health organizations in our state.

Two names you will begin to hear a lot of from the WSPA office are Sierra and Marvo. Sierra Vanderhoogt is the office manager, administrative assistant and the friendliest most helpful voice you’ll hear when you call. She can help you with your membership renewal, update and upload your CE certificates and help you navigate the various listservs. Sierra has a BS in Biology from Eastern Washington University and found her way working with membership associations as the administrative assistant of EWU’s Pride Center. Sierra is also the anchor to other clients and projects at Thinking Cap.

Marvo Reguindin is your new Executive Director and the founder/President of Thinking Cap. A leader in the Spokane business and non-profit community, Marvo was recently named a finalist in the 2016 Spokane Citizen Hall of Fame for Public Service and Philanthropy. He is an adjunct instructor at Gonzaga University and a member of the KSPS TV Community Advisory Board. A lifetime learner, Marvo is currently enrolled in a U.S. Small Business Administration Emerging Leader mini-MBA program. He and his life partner Paul are parents to two Yorkies mix puppies, Giovanni and Harley.

Marvo and Sierra have begun stabilizing WSPA’s daily operations and continue working with the board to develop CE workshops. Scott Mailheau, another Thinking Cap staff member will assist with outgoing communication from WSPA, including the bi-weekly CE email newsletter and social media. Karena Kliefoth and Lavonne West are graphic designers who will be responsible for keeping WSPA’s brand and image consistent and visible. The entire team is excited to lead WSPA and we look forward to helping members in any way possible.
